Buying at an auction

Bidding at a live auction.

There is something for everyone at the auctions of Derksen Veilingbedrijf, the “Arnhem Auction House”: modern, antique, from furniture to jewelry. You can find the current items in our cloud catalog. You can also see what is being auctioned at the upcoming auction during the viewing days.

Buying at an auction is an exciting experience for young and old, because an auction proceeds by bidding. Goods are sold to the highest bidder by the strike of the hammer.

An auction is therefore not only of interest to dealers and antiqueists, but also to collectors and other private individuals. It is not only an exciting event to follow, but can also lead to you going home with a surprising purchase. To maximize your chances, Derksen Veilingbedrijf offers various bidding options.

  • You bid from home via the live streaming system. Access to the auction room is not possible unless there are special reasons, then only upon request. Your registration as a customer is done by issuing a bidding number. This is automatically assigned to you by the auction system.
  • You place a maximum bid online via our website. This is possible up to one hour before the start of the relevant session. This is a purchase order in which the auctioneer bids on your behalf. The auctioneer will attempt to purchase the lot for you at the best possible price. Bids must be a multiple of 5 euros.
  • For some properties in the higher price segment, it is possible to place a bid by telephone. We would be happy to explain the possibilities to you personally.
  • You bid live online during the auction. To do so, you must be registered well before the start of the session.

Bidding during a Timed Online auction.

This auction session takes place entirely online, via a so-called Timed-Online auction system. The auction runs for approximately one week and ends at a specified time. All lots can be viewed during the viewing days and in an online catalog with images and guide prices. After creating an account, you can place bids throughout the week. Ultimately, it only gets really exciting in the final minutes. If someone bids in the last 5 minutes, the auction for the lot in question is extended by 5 minutes, giving the opposing party sufficient time to place a higher bid.
It is not possible to bid in the auction room. To bid via our website, you must be registered as a customer. (Registrations are processed up to one hour before closing time.)
Bids are always treated as “auto bids,” where the computer bids for you up to the maximum you specify. If your bid is outbid, you will be notified by email.
All bids are binding and cannot be withdrawn.

Sold!

Naturally, you want to take possession of your purchase as soon as possible. Good news: you can make an appointment by phone to pick up your purchases. At the checkout, an invoice will be printed upon presentation of your bidding number, or you will receive it via email. The purchase becomes your property after payment. Cash payment is not possible. You can also pick up your purchases at a different time. This is only possible after making a telephone appointment: 0264421498. You can find dates and times HERE. For later pick-up times, you can of course make an appointment with us.

Costs.

The amount for which you ultimately purchase something consists of the auction price and the auction fees. Derksen Veilingbedrijf charges a 30% buyer’s premium (auction fees).

Transport and shipping.

Derksen Veilingbedrijf can assist you with the transport or shipment of your purchases if you are unable or unwilling to pick them up yourself. For worldwide parcel shipping, we use PostNL or DPD. Shipping costs depend on the destination, weight, and dimensions. You can find the rates on our website under “Shipping Costs”.

The transport of furniture and larger objects can also be arranged. These costs are charged to you at an hourly rate. For transport outside our region and abroad, we use external carriers. We would be happy to advise you to find the best solution.

Auction terms and conditions.

The General Terms and Conditions, which can be found on our website, apply to all auctions organized by Derksen Veilingbedrijf. Here you will also find the regulations regarding the Resale Right. Anyone participating in any of our auctions, in any capacity whatsoever, must be aware of these terms and conditions and agrees to them.
